Andromeda

Andromeda Galaxy. This beautiful spiral galaxy is 2.5 million light years away from Earth. The galaxy can be seen with the naked eye, looking like a fuzzy star. In the constellation Andromeda, it is often referred as the most distant object that can be seen with the naked eye. This image took over three hours using LRGB filters.

Orion Nebula

The great Orion Nebula with Running Man Nebula. It took over six hours of imaging to achieve this majestic photo. The Orion Nebula is one of the closest Star birth regions to Earth. It is about 1,500 light years away. The small bright area in the centre of the image is the Trapezum (a collection of four very young stars). These stars are the light source for the Orion Nebula.

Knowlton Church is a Norman church, which was built in the 12th century. It is situated at the centre of a Neolithic ritual henge earthwork. It is also reported to be one of the most haunted places in Dorset.

Full Moon

The full Moon, the same as a New Moon phase, has a massive effect on the Earth's tides. At certain times of the year, a full Moon is the signal for giant Turtles to come onto the shore and lay their eggs.

Supermoon

Supermoon is the apparent size of the Lunar disk as seen from Earth. The term Supermoon originated from modern Astrology. There is nothing super about it what so ever, except the size of its disk. The technical name for this event is Perigee - Syzygy of the Earth - Moon - Sun system. This phenomena occurs four to six times a year.

The Whirlpool Galaxy

The Whirlpool Galaxy, also known as NGC 5194. It is an Interacting Grand Design Spiral Galaxy, with NGC 5195 to the bottom left. It is about 23 million light years away in the constellation Canes Venatici. This is an LRGB image, and took about five hours of imaging time.

Cigar Galaxy

The Cigar Galaxy, also known as M82 & NGC 3034. It is a Starburst Galaxy about 12 million light years away, in Ursa Major. M82 is also nearly five times more luminous than the whole of our Milky Way. It took me over six hours of imaging time to achieve this beautiful image.

M42 Orion

M42. The great Orion Nebula. Sometimes black and white ( luminance ) images show more than LRGB images. The bright centre area is known as the Trapezium. It is a group of four Stars that illuminates the whole of the Nebula.

The Straight Wall Feature.

The Straight Wall (Rupes Recta) to the bottom left of the image, is a fault line about sixty eight miles long. To the left hand side is the small crater named 'Birt'. This crater is about ten miles wide.

North America Nebula

NGC 7000. The North America Nebula, named after the Continent. It is well defined as the shape of the North America continent, with a prominent Gulf of Mexico. The nebula spans 50 light years, and is about 1,500 light years away. It is sometimes incorrectly called the North American Nebula.

Waning Gibbous Moon

Waning Gibbous Moon rising at St. Alhelms head. There was hardly any wind and the sea was especially calm. The reflection was just beautiful to look at, I got on top of my van to light paint the foreground. This is a low resolution JPG image that shows gradients in the sky the full version does not have gradients in the image.
